DEALLC Major and ROTC Cadet Commander from U.Va. Named a Top Cadet in Country

Adria Penatzer, a double major in Politics and Chinese, was recently named one of the top cadets in the country. She placed first among her regiment of 500 cadets and is one of the 13 cadets across the entire country to receive this honor.

DEALLC Graduate Opens Asian News Analysis Blog

DEALLC Class of 2013 graduate Byunghun Yoo recently launched his own news analysis blog. The blog focuses on politics, economics, and cultural exchanges of the East Asian region. In an email, Yoo stated the blog's mission is to "deliver leading opinions and thoughts from Korea and East Asia to English readers. All original and translated posts are provided in both English and Korean, and they are carefully selected to provide unique perspectives on the region distinguished from major American and European press."


Prof. Tomomi Sato Participates in Japanese Pedagogy Workshop

On May 17th and 18th, a workshop in Japanese pedagogy was held at the College of William and Mary in preparation for the Foreign Language Association of Virginia's annual conference. The FLAVA conference will be held in September 2014, and this workshop gave several participating teachers the chance to review their goals related to language instruction, curriculum improvement, and increasing student performance. The teachers worked together to create a rubric which will be presented at the FLAVA conference.
